Many years ago I started my journey in athletics with the goal to perform to the best of my abilities. I believe through lots of hard work I achieved that by becoming the best in my state and receiving an athletic scholarship to compete on the Division 1 level. Let’s rewind a bit and see how that happened, and maybe you will understand why I am so passionate about programs I write and how I know 100% that you will achieve great success with YOUR program. The short answer is because my twin brother and I did an off-season strength & conditioning program that catapulted us to the next level. I remember coming back that next season and actually overhearing somebody say “Where did they come from?” Yes, I was technically skilled at my sport, but I lacked the physicality of my sport, that little bit extra.

At the age of 14, I was blessed to have a coach that understood the importance of strength & conditioning. He set us up at the gym with an outstanding powerlifting coach, and from there it started. My brother and I began training very hard, day in and day out, because the program we had was very well done. We saw great gains, thus enhancing our performance on the mat. My wrestling coach was the best I could have asked for, and a lot of my success was because of him. That really set the stage for the rest of our seasons in high school. Let me clarify something up front. The program I create for you will be sound, but you have to do the work if you want to be successful. No excuses for missing workouts!

In college I majored in health and physical education, because I hoped to one day make an impact on someone’s life like my coaches did for me. I love watching and my athletes achieve personal records, and doing things they thought they would never achieve. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA. In order to be a strength & conditioning coach at any university or professional team, you need this certification. I am very proud of being an NSCA (CSCS), as it took many hours of studying to obtain. I am also certified as a United States Weightlifting Coach (USAW). Along with these certifications, I compete in powerlifting. In the sport of powerlifting, I am considered elite/professional. I have won state titles, national titles, and set American records. All of my experience and over 25 years of training will be reflected in your customized strength and conditioning program. I put a lot of time and consideration into each program that I write. I strongly urge you to first believe in yourself and to start working hard to make your dreams come true. “Don’t wish for more than you’re willing to work for.”

TESTIMONIALS

Mike and Angela Hutchins

We first met Joey when my son, Nick, began working out at Temple Fitness with the Franklin High School baseball team. The team was working on strength and speed training. We wanted Nick to get some extra work on speed and agility, so we began a series of personal training sessions. During these workouts Joey has gone over and above what we were expecting. Joey has taught him how weight training combined with the correct nutrition plan has a vital impact in his overall fitness and the importance of this in an athletes life. He has given him the knowledge and ability to continue a workout routine on his own. Nick has lost weight, reduced his BMI and gained strength through his training. He is excited to see how this impacts his playing on the field. We not only found a place for Nick to train, but we found a place where training makes a difference.
